This specialized course covers the theory and practical execution of Real-Time Kinematic (RTK) and Post-Processed Kinematic (PPK) surveying with drones and GNSS receivers. Learn to place Ground Control Points (GCPs), process high-density point clouds, and produce engineering-grade topographical surveys.

Module 1: Geodesy, GNSS & RTK/PPK Principles

  • Multipath, atmospheric distortion, and differential correction mechanisms
  • RTK versus PPK: when and why to use each surveying methodology

Module 2: Field Survey Planning & Ground Control Placement

  • Target placement strategies for Ground Control Points (GCPs) and Checkpoints
  • Surveying GCPs using RTK GNSS base and rover systems
  • Flight planning for photogrammetric overlap and oblique capture

Module 3: Photogrammetric Processing & Accuracy Validation

  • Bundle block adjustment, tie point extraction, and camera calibration
  • Dense point cloud filtering and Digital Surface Model (DSM) vs DTM separation
  • Generating Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) accuracy reports

Module 4: Engineering Deliverables & CAD Integration

  • Extracting 0.5m/1.0m contour intervals and spot elevations
  • Cut-and-fill volumetric calculations for farm levelling and pond construction
  • Exporting point clouds and surface meshes to AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and GIS
